Ginger was a lovely neighbourhood stray cat that came from humble beginnings in the past. She had been fed by other cat breeders in the neighbourhood. Unfortunately, some mean and cruel being ill-treated her by scalding hot water on her back one day in late 2019. It resulted that she had red bleeding patches on her upper back. Sigh...Why are there always mean people who wanted to ill-treat these poor animals?
My brother, with help from other breeders upon discovering her, brought her back home to heal her wounds temporarily. But she was very well behaved. She was kept in an enclosure to separate from other cats in the house.
She was really quiet most of the time and she did not much noise. She ate her meals when served and stayed inside the enclosure most of the time.
Slowly, over the course of 3 weeks, her bloody wounds started to heal with proper and delicate cleansing with antiseptic medication from the vet.
I did not know exactly how old was Ginger Huang. But from the looks, she may be probably quite matured and had been a well-taken care of as a stray cat.
The original intention was to release her back to her habitat when she recovered from her wounds. However, we found it difficult to part with her and she had grown to adapt to a domesticated environment with proper good food and treats, and nice cushioned bed to sleep.
For one thing, she liked to jump up to my bed and sleep through the days and sometimes the nights. To me, it was very endearing to have a cat so close to me after my dog was gone. All this happened during the Covid periods of 2 years.
I am craving for new companionship especially during the Covid times. One barely can talk another human. Hence, Ginger's time was right for me. Slowly and surely, I grew a sweet affection for Ginger. She was such a sweet old mama cat. Also, she had very good appetite for food.
Well, to cut the story short, this is how Ginger had kept me occupied and busy feeding her and giving her a good remainder life before she goes. I am cutely aware that Ginger's time on earth may not be long. So I am not missing the time and treasured whatever time I had with her.
As you may have enjoyed at the photos, I took photos of Ginger to photo log her, knowing that all these wonderful experiences will become beautiful memories one day. Indeed, during these 4 years that Ginger had lived with us, it was a blast and we had spent a wonderful time with her.
Ginger passed on in the morning on 3 Dec 2023 due to old age. Very sad indeed, but for me, this whole experience is still worth it. No money can buy that these kind of time, joys and happiness invested on pets. Creating this site and a printed photo album are my way of ensuring that Ginger's presence is still felt till this day. (1 year's anniversary) It is also a way to find closure with Ginger and to move on with another chapter of my life. Definitely, I shall look forward to the heavenly reunion with my pets one fine day, including Ginger.
The loss, grief and sadness always prevail every time a beloved family pet passed on. But, one thing I will never forget - that is the love, the cuteness, the beautiful memories each one has left me with. So, on a positive note, I took time to commemorate each of these special furry friends and family members. I do and will miss Ginger just as my late doggies.
I firmly believed that all of us will be resurrected one day and reunited with our furkids once again. I can't wait to experience that myself...soon...very soon. Have faith in God.
Cheers, Brian
